Install Swype Keyboard On Your Jailbroken iOS Device [Cydia Tweak]

Feeling envious of Android users and the many keyboard replacement applications that they get to use? Well, if your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad is jail broken, you don’t need to. Now available on Cydia (currently in beta), Swype for iOS is a faster, much more fluent text entry alternative to the stock keyboard for common. Like the Android input method by the same name, the free Cydia tweak lets you type words simply by swiping across the keyboard from one letter to the next. It even displays a blue trail of your finger’s movements. Cydia source and installation method after the break.

To install Swype on your jailbroken iOS device,
  • Launch Cydia
  • Select Manage > Sources > Edit > Add and enter the following URL source within the dialog box that appears: http://wynd.x10.mx
  • Tap Add source and wait for Cydia to finish verifying the URL and updating the sources.
  • Return to Cydia and search for Swype.
  • Install Swype and reboot.

The keyboard requires a little getting used to and the prediction is a tad wayward at times – pretty normal considering the tweak is in beta and just recently received its first update.
To switch back to the stock keyboard, launch Cydia and select Manage > Packages > Swype > Modify > Remove.
